A German bolt-action rifle firing a very fast projectile, excellent for long range use.
History[]
The Mauser, which served as the service rifle of the German Empire, the Weimar Republic, and the Third Reich, while inspiring numerous other rifles to adopt the Gewehr 98's modern features. Principal among those is the M98's action, designed to be smooth, reliable, and working regardless of the shooter's training level. Exceptionally accurate, the Gewehr 98 also served as a sniper rifle for German marksmen, with over 18,000 rifles converted for this purpose.
