"These grenades release a long-lasting gas cloud that damages enemies inside it."
History[]
A more or less fictional weapon. Chemical weapons were typically delivered using special artillery shells, to ensure proper saturation. Attempts to use gas grenades were a total failure, as was the case with the French army in August 1914, when tear gas grenades fired on the enemy failed to make an impact. They weren't even noticed by their intended recipients.
Gameplay[]
Once thrown, the gas will take a period or time to expand a great distance, giving the enemy some(not much) time to escape. But be careful to avoid getting caught in a gas explosion yourself. One way to avoid damage by these grenades is by wearing a gas mask(available in infantry kit). This prevents the smoke from harming you. Another plus for the gas grenade is the fact that wearing the gas mask limits one to hipfire, so chose an accurate hipfire weapon when dealing with gas grenades. Best uses: Trench Battles and in Houses.
The Gas Grenade was first seen during the Battlefield 1 reveal trailer.
It is impossible to tell if the gas was deployed by enemies or otherwise.
With the exception of the Flame Trooper, Elite Kits are also vulnerable to the gas grenade, especially the Sentry Kit which does not have the gas mask. Due to the long health recovery time of 45 seconds, it is one of the most effective methods of taking down a Sentry. Cavalry kits have gas masks but players must first dismount from their Horse to equip them. Horses are immune to the gas.
