In-Game Text[]
A innovative Italian automatic rifle from the late 19th century. Features both automatic and semi-automatic fire. It was built from the ground up even though it shared the size of the Carcano.
History[]
An interesting relic with a mysterious past, the Cei-Rigotti was designed by Amerigo Cei-Rigotti, an officer of the Royal Italian Army. In many ways it was a weapon well ahead of its time: Designed at the end of the 19th century, it was a self-loading, gas piston rifle capable of firing in both single and fully automatic fire modes. Chambered for 6.5x52mm Mannlicher-Carcano (or 7.65mm Mauser, as the prototypes captured by the British indicate), the Cei-Rigotti was reportedly a robust, reliable rifle that only seized up after burning through 300 rounds in a demonstration. The reasons for it being rejected in favor of conventional designs are not known - and likely never will be.
